The farm operation began in 1951 when Ralph and Vera purchased their first registered polled hereford cattle from C.A. Keith from Harrisville, West Virginia. Later they obtained cattle from Homer Gant of Summerfield, Ohio, and Clyde Banbury of Danville, Ohio. The couple operated three farms consisting of 225 acres. While building and improving the herd, Ralph continued to work in the school system. Over 33 years, he worked as a classroom teacher, coach, and a school administrator.
Ralph was active in various cattle organizations, serving two terms on the board of the Buckeye Hereford Association, including one year as president. Ralph passed away in 2007. Today, the farm continues to operate under the guidance of Larry and Keith.
Showing polled hereford cattle has been part of our operation for more than 50 years. Over the past 30 years, we have done particularly well in the show arena. Our many awards include champions at the Ohio State Fair, West Virginia State Fair, NAILE, KILE, Eastern National Livestock Show, and the Ohio Futurity. In recent years, we have won Premier Breeder, Premier Exhibitor, and Herdsman Awards while exhibiting numerous state fair and national champions.
Ralph E. Ullman & Son Polled Herefords is located in Graysville, Ohio. The farm is appoximately 40 miles north of Marietta, and 10 miles south of Woodsfield, Ohio, along State Route 26. Visitors always welcome!
